Countdown to Eschaton

As I type this we are less than 14 Months away from the end of the world. The Gregorian Calendar date of December 21, 2012 at 11:11 UT has been identified as the date and time when some believe history will end. This is based on the dating of the Mayan calendar. I’m not going to drop the obligatory link in here. If you are curious, google it.

Proponents of Novelty Theory (look it up) claim that that date marks the turning point in human history when anything new, or Novel, will have happened and a radical shift of some sort will take place.

New Age spiritualist types look forward to 21-Dec-2012 as the date when the collective consciousness of humanity will ascend to a greater plane.

Anyway, there are many who hold the view that “something significant” will happen on that date. I certainly hope so. I’ll be terribly disapointed if the clock tics over and absolutely nothing changes. Although, I am pretty much expecting exactly that. There was so much hoopla made of the Y2K scare and all that happened was that the sun came up and life continued it’s inexorable march forward.

Many of my posts in this blog will contain my musings on what might be waiting for us on the other side of the End of the World. I don’t know if anyone will ever read any of this, but, what the heck.
